Fire investigation – Can I enter the fire scene as I want? When can I start restoring the fire scene?
- First of all, the prosecutor, police or fire department locks the fire scene down until the investigation and forensic works are finished. As the fire ends, the local fire station will provide the victim with a “notification to keep the fire scene intact,” which means that the fire scene shall be kept intact until the investigation and forensic works are finished at the scene and no access to or change of the scene is allowed without the permission of fire / forensic investigator.
- At the end of fire scene investigation, the local fire station will provide the victim with a “notification for fire scene investigation completion” and release the scene to the victim.

How do I request a rescue service certificate and a copy of rescue record?
- 1. Those who have received the emergency service provided by any ambulance of the Fire Department may request to one of the City’s fire stations for a rescue service certificate and a copy of rescue record with the following materials:
- (1) For request by the patient him/herself:
- Completed application form;
- Official copy of valid ID with photo;
- (2) For request by someone other than the patient:
- Completed application form
- Power of attorney;
- Official copy of applicant’s valid ID with photo;
- Official copy of patient’s valid ID with photo (or death certificate or household registration cancellation certificate if the patient has deceased).

- Processing time:
- Rescue service certificate: the request is processed immediately and certificate is issued as soon as the application is approved,You can also apply online and check online:https://ecloud.tyfd.gov.tw/FireTaoyuanCloud/FireTaoyuan/PublicApplication.
- Rescue record: Written application only,1~3 days, and the applicant will be informed to pick it up.

I learned about the CPR+AED training activities from the promotional materials distributed by Fire Department. I am interested but how do I sign up?
- The Department has been promoting the "119 CPR Convenience Learning Station" since 2012. Every Monday at 19:00, a 90-minute CPR + AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training program is available at every fire station free of charge, as long as there are 3 people or more who are interested in participation.
- A digital interactive learning area for ambulance knowledge QA is set up in the City's Bade District Training Center and Disaster Prevention Education Center, introducing CPR intuitive teaching and using AR (augmented reality) technology to help operators with immediate feedback and to improve the accuracy of learning; in addition, for the emergency education and training of firefighters, the center is also planning to prepare high-fidelity simulation classrooms, virtually simulated ambulance cabins and digital subject classrooms, allowing firefighters to improve themselves.

Is there an eligible age to be a firefighter?
To sign up for the examinations to become a firefighter, you need to be:
- 25 years or younger for entrance exam for Central Police University and Taiwan Police College.
- 18 to 37 years old for the firefighting police category, Civil Service Special Examination Regulations for Police Officers.
- 18 to 37 years old for the firefighting police category, Civil Service Special Examination Regulations for General Police Officers.

What is the compensation for a firefighter who was accidentally injured in the line of duty?
The Department always takes care of their own and show its gratitude to firefighters injured in the line of duty. Assistance is provided for them in applying for subsidies from, for example, "Taoyuan City Firefighters Safety Fund" and "Foundation for Fire Protection Development", for compensation and necessary medical care.

What are the rules for establishing a firefighting passageway?
- Firefighting passageway: a firefighting passageway is an existing road in Taiyuan City that is “between 3.5 and 7.5 m wide,” and 140 m or more away from an occupied or inhabited building (140 m or more for a cul-de-sac alley or 280 m or more for a through alley) with the words “firefighting passageway” painted on the road pavement.
- Roadside red line: the establishment of a roadside red line is the responsibility of Department of Transportation and district offices (competent authority of right of way); however, red line is not necessary for a firefighting passageway and, therefore, it is not compulsory.
- Firefighting passageway establishment process: once the Department receive an application for firefighting passageway establishment, the first thing in order is to have the proposed site surveyed for compliance to establishment rules, before the survey results are given to the district office in charge. The district office in charge will invite the Fire Department, Police Department, Department of Transportation and village office for a site survey. Once it is determined necessary, the district office will paint the words “firefighting passageway” on the pavement.

Can I use the water coming out of a fire hydrant?
- The fire hydrant is used only by firefighters for fighting fires. It is prohibited to access the water for daily use.
- The access to water out of a fire hydrant without the permission of utility water company is a violation of water theft specified in Article 98 of the Water Supply Act.
- Subparagraph 4, Paragraph 1, Article 98 of the Water Supply Act specifies: “Taking water from fire hydrant without the permission of water supply enterprise, except for the purpose of extinguishing fire”, is subject to the punishment of a sentence of imprisonment of no more than five years, detention, or a fine of no more than NT$ 500.

Can I relocate or install a fire hydrant? How do I apply for it?
The maintenance and repair of fire hydrants are the responsibility of Branch 2 Management Office of Taiwan Water Corporation. People in need may call the office at 03-4643131 or leave your phone number, address and where you want to relocate or add a fire hydrant to Fire Department, and Fire Department will help you by forwarding the request to Taiwan Water Corporation.

What should I do if I find a leaky fire hydrant?
- Call 1910, which is the maintenance hotline of Taiwan Water Corporation.
- Call 1999 or 119 or report the finding at your local fire station and the information will be forwarded to Taiwan Water Corporation.

Can I park in front of a fire hydrant?
- Subparagraph 3, Paragraph 1, Article 56 of the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act specifies parking in front of a fire hydrant is subject to a fine from NT$ 600 to NT$ 1,200.
- Also, Subparagraph 2, Paragraph 1, Article 111 of the Road Traffic Safety Act specifies that no temporary parking is permitted within 5 m of a fire hydrant or fire engine access.
